Who is the quote for £155 from?

I was quoted £499 by the dealer for a 170CR Elegance. Cost £25k+.

I am about to sign up to a quote from the Civil Service Motoring Association (CSMA). General GAP costs vary from £169 up.

For the Superb it is £189 for all engine sizes/models up to a cost of just under £25k. Above £25k it is £199.

The important point to check is the level of cover you get with the policy. The Skoda GAP provided up to £15k cover whereas the CSMA is only up to £10k.

dont buy a price limited policy. buy a "return to invoice" policy. that way you are safer. haggle hard with the dealer and you can get it for around £200

:iagree: - With this sort of cover it's not just about the price; it's also about the term, whether or not there's a maximum payout, does the first year guarantee a replacement new car...

This is with AXA through these people , they are simply the first i found when googling "Gap insurance" not yet shopped around

Our GAP Insurance prices cannot be beaten.

This is for a "return to invoice" policy on a £22400 priced Superb

Quite an interesting link - apart from the fact the website doesn't seem to work properly (may be busy). This is the first time I've come across anyone offering to defer the start of a GAP policy by 1 year IF your current insurance policy already gives you a NEW FOR OLD (the guy said its only been available since 18 Dec - as far as he knows nobody else is offering that yet; he would say that eh!). So that's an important starting point. You then need to decide how long you want a policy for.

They offer different kinds of GAP policy. The comparisons I was quoted depend on the policy length, amount of cover you want and type of GAP. It's apparently normal to have a 'higher' cover on a Replacement Gap as costs go up. Quotes on a £28.5k car for 3 years (i.e. effectively for 4 years IF you defer the start by 1 year IF your existing policy covers you) were:

Limit of Cover--------------------------------------£10k-----------------£15k

Return to Invoice GAP-------------------------£173.88------------£191.32

Replacement GAP------------------------------£214.68------------£231.84
