how do you change filter in 2.0tfsi

Featured Replies

how do you get to the air filter without knackering the cover.

any ideas for panel filter would be appreciated. Pipercross or K&N etc

thanks

It's housed in the engine cover. You need to pull it off and unscrew from underneath. Pipercross foam filter.

Been covered several times before so a search might help but give it a good tug from the rear then from the front should release it just fine. To help with removal in future put a small amount of silicone spray on the rubber bungs for easier removal in future.

Start pulling from the right rear which is the strongest part. Be very careful with the front sections as they are fragile.

Best to warm the engine and hence the rubbers before trying.

There are a couple of good picture guides around.

if you snap any of the four clips i wouldnt worry they are quite cheap and easy to replace, but what i would recommend is that you buy some rubber lubricant and spray it on the 4 rings and on the rubber seal where the pipe and the airbox meet at the top right of the engine cover, or just use a dab of oil, that way the next time you take it off it will come off nice and easy

thanks for the tips. had a look and looks like some clumsy eejit has had a go before and snapped the front of the cover. Have ordered the Pipercross filter and will have a go when it arrives and try not to completely destroy it. have some silly lube in the garage so will give the seals a squirt.
