Flush fitting parking sensors

Featured Replies

Has anyone come across any FLUSH fitting (or possibly slightly recessed?) OEM looking parking sensor kits?

I fitted a kit to my old Octavia but they stuck out a couple of mm, which on the bump strip wasn't an issue, these however are to go onto a strip-less bumper, so i want them to look as OEM (VAG) as possible.

So what have you got / fitted?

are they flush or raised?

any issues with them?

TIA

Nobody fitted any then?

OK how about OEM bumpers with factory fitted PDC are the holes recessed (so the sensor sits flush with the bumper) or is it just a straight hole.

Now somebody must of replaced an OEM sensor at some point?

Cobra make an excellent system, well worth looking into.

But will they sit flush like OE?

Come on Ross spill the beans, you must of changed loads under warranty :o, are they fitted into a recessed hole in the bumper or just a plain hole (if so what makes them flush?)

They are very thin so although not flush they are barely noticeable, work a damn site better than the OE ones as well. Really easy to paint and pop in.

I have seen the Cobra ParkMaster ones and TBH (in the photo's) they don't look much different to any of the many other makes on the market, granted the quality may be better on the Cobra ones.

I think the Parking Dynamics PD1 sensor is a great idea - if it works, i have only found 1 review on that yet and the guy wasn't impressed, but that may of been down to poor installation?

The Cobra system is also the one used by Skoda in retro fit situations when the gen kit isnt available. Also used by Mazda, Suzuki and a few other makes as a genuine accessory.

or you can learn to drive ;)

 they are not for me - honest! (mine has them as std)

SWMBO has just bought a MKV Golf and she is not the most confident of reverser's anyway, so £50ish now is better than £100+ for repainting the bumper.

Fitted 2 of these in the last couple of weeks, one on a BMW Z4 and one one a Megane estate. They both work faultlessly, are easy to fit and there are no ugly sensors in the bumper. The chap at Parking Dynamics is very pleasant and will match the ebay price if

you buy direct from them. Highly recomended

Audi's retro fit kit is also a rebadge cobra unit with a few extra connectors thrown in.... Just got to get round to fitting mine.

The new Skoda Octavia has flush sensors ;)

Decided to go with the PD1 in the end, down to several reasons:

1. Struggling to find flush sensors

2. The OEM one's apparently are in a normal hole and stuck in situ

3. The car is silver and i don't fancy painting them in metallic paint (meant to upset the sensors) despite having seen others painted in metallic.

4. At £50 they are not much more than a normal set + painting (if you bought them pre-painted they may not be the same shade)
