Fabia VRS Power Steering Problems

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

My car is a '53 Fabia VRS which I only bought 2 weeks ago! I have a problem with the steering warning light coming on in the mornings or when the car has been left for a long period of time. If you try to drive the car with light on the power steering will cut in and out but if you turn the car of and re start it is fine.

I have fitted a second hand steering angle sensor as I have heard these can give trouble but it still has the problem. I have also checked for fault codes but none are present in the memory.

Has any one else had this problem?

It's a same because otherwise it's a cracking little car.

Cheers!

The steering sensor shouldnt really be an issue on the vRS. they have a latter type set up.

A fault code check will help but the system is actually really basic so quite easy to diagnose.

OK I couldn't get any fault codes out of it but I suppose the only other thing is the pump itself.

Good job I got a 6 month warranty with it!

Thanks for your help.

Not always the case.

Three plugs on the pump itself.

Middle one is the main live and earth to the pump. Should have battery voltage and an earth there.

There is a three pin plug, these a wires to the sensor

The four pin plug houses to can data wires and and ignition feed.

Basically if you have the main live and earth, and the ignition feed the pump should work. If you have all three and it doesn't if the sensor reads in the measured block values then its a knackered pump.
