i'm thinking of buying a Octavia RS/VRS. Just wondered what i need to look out for? Any common problems?

When do belts etc need doing? Anything else which must be changed?

Hi there and welcome to Briskoda.

I've just posted in a similar thread in this forum so might be worth checking that one out.

The problems most mentioned on the forums are (in no particular order)

Coil packs

Central locking issues

Door seals letting in moisture

Rear washer pipe popping off and flooding boot

N75 valve issues (more common on cars that have been modified)

Throttle body / MAF needs cleaning or replacing

Boost / vacuum leaks in hoses in the engine bay

Secondary air pump loose

Rear brake mooing

Try a search on any of those for a more detailed explanation of the problems and solutions for each. Don't let them put you off though as people only post when they have a problem, not when their car is running fine which is 99% of the time

As for belts, cambelt and water pump need doing every 4 years or 60,000 miles whichever comes first.
