Recommend me a good phone

Featured Replies

Right I need a new phone as on my current W810i (which I have had for two years) the camera button has stopped working ( I know this is a common fault). I need something that isn't too expensive, preferably on PAYG, is really good for things like Facebook and also has a decent camera on it too.

I have a had a look around some phone shops but always get pounced by a salesperson that is way too over-enthusiastic and that every phone in the shop is "amazing!".

I do fancy another Sony Ericsson as apart from the camera button the W810i has been flawless and still works well. I have been told to stay away from the Nokia Nseries range as they are known to have loads of software problems is this still the case?

Anyway I'm open to all suggestions. Thanks in advance.

A Crackberry on Orange? Are you serious?

What would you recommend network wise? I've always been with Orange which have been OK but signal does drop out randomly.

If you have something heavy on date like a blackberry, then go for a network that offers decent data packages for PAYG.

Most networks do free facebook, myspace etc thesedays.

I have been with orange 12 years and never really had a major problem till now. Moved house a month ago and the signal is very very poor. Probably receive 1 in 5 calls and text delays up to 2 hours.

They wont let me get out of my contract unfortunately due to the signal quality till the 18 months is up in May.

Unless the signal improves, looks like I'll be moving.

My work o2 blackberry signal is superb luckily.

If you're on Dolphin 35, T-mobs flext 35's worth considering.

For my £30 i get unlimited data and upto 900 minutes, 9000 texts of combination of each upto £200 allowence of services per month

Sounds like you want the moon on a stick and you only want to pay peanuts for it :P

Don't buy anything from the current SE range, they are not reliable. The Nseries will cost you a lot on PAYG. You might want to consider the LG Cookie which has been a bit of a surprise package TBH.

You could also always get your current handset repaired for £44

The Nokia 5800 is a decently priced handset if you can find anywhere still doing it on PAYG - Car Phone Warehouse did have it in, although I think it may only be on pay monthly now.

A lot of phone for the money!

It's not on Payg and Sim free is £280

The Cookie is £97.95 + £10 top up on o2, Tmob and virgin. £109.95 + £10 top up on Orange. Sim Free it's £160.

I have SE C902, my wife has finally managed to get one over on me technology wise with the C905.

Both flawlessly reliable without yet requiring a battery out re-boot, both very happy with them.

You wait....

First the speaker goes....

Then the LCD....

Then the keypad....

And then you have to wait 5 weeks for the parts to come....

I am really hoping you have good ones, but I aint seen one yet :(

It's pretty solid, the kepads are a weak point as is the IMEI lable...

However, it is a 1 1/2 year old phone.

Depends on store ,but ASDA's own mobiles are not locked (or so the blurb on the packageing on the shelves says )

Yeah I had a go of the C902 in the O2 shop and I was impressed with it although now I'm having trouble working out what the best network for me is. I am currently with Orange whose signal has gone rubbish lately and I'm not sure who to go for.

I still think I'll go PAYG as I don't really like the thought of an 18 month contract. I do want it for light Internet use like Facebook and Briskoda and with Orange if you paid £1 you had internet for 24 hrs. Do any of the other providers do this and what about call costs
