01274 - Air Flow Flap

Does the air flow flap actually still work?

I only ask a i have scanned a Golf today with this fault, but the flap was still working fine.

No not working, normally you hear the flap move. I don't hear anything now.

I changed mine myself. Part was about £70 and took me a couple of hours.

You need to remove the glovebox obviously, and I also removed the blower motor to gain access to the flap on the inside. It's fairly easy to remove the old one, but getting the new one in is a pain in the ring!

Helps to plug the new one in and pre-position in using the heater controls before fitting.

Prepare to scratch the hell out of the back of your hands while poking around in the corner of the dash!

But yeah, it can be done, just takes time and patience.
