vRS SE rear wheel out of alignment

Featured Replies

Just had my 40,000 service carried out on my vRS Fabia SE. (£350 - seems to me to very expensive.) And they noted that the rear wheel were both heavily worn on the inside (range 5mm trad on outside to 2mm trad on inside). This Skoda garage said they had checked the suspension and all the rear mountings and that it was all fine. they recommended that I had a full geometry check done.

I had this carried out be ETB in Worcester who have full laser aligning equipment, I told them what the Skoda dealer had said, they did the check for me and said the driver side rear wheel was out of alignment and provided a print out of the results. They also said before doing the check that there would be nothing they could do as the alignment was fixed by a rear axle.

So my question is what are Startin's Worcester on about telling me to have a geometry check, and what is likely to be the problem and would it be fixed under warranty?

Thanks

not sure there but the rear is deff fixed, is anything bent?

hit any kerbs with that wheel/ jacked the car up on the axle?

The rear can be adjusted with the use of a shim (definately for camber, not sure about tow). Any good garage will be able to produce and fit it for you - at a price.

I'm sure someone will be along shortly with a more detailed explanation

Only ever been up on a jack in a skoda garage.

Never hit a curb to me knowledge.

The Cambers out and it's toe in.

Never been in an accident.

What's likely to have been bent?

the rear beam could be bent slightly, Basil , a member in warmer climes has had shims made to straighten the misalignment in his rear beam

it could be that the beam was just made with the poor alignment built in

If you are concerned get the results to the dealer and get them to act on it.

I will be on to them Monday, but I'm extremely ****ed off at them as they suggesting that I go and get a geometry check carried out as I feel they should have done it and taken the initiative to get the problem sorted (or at least start the process) or getting it sorted out.

After all this is warranty work and the car is under warranty.
