Aftermarket clutch/flywheel for a 300 hp Octavia

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I'm building my Octavia I RS to about 300 hp (whp if I'm lucky). Just finished intake, exhaust and engine management work. Now I'm putting in a bigger intercooler and a bigger turbo. As I feared, the clutch is starting to slip.

Can anyone recommend a website in the UK where I can order a nice clutch + flywheel combo to hold around 300 hp? I found a Neuspeed N2 on AwesomeGTI, but at 800 quid, it's awfully expensive. I was hoping for something by SPEC or ACT, but I can't seem to find anything in the UK.

Cheers and TIA

Hi

Did you see the ECS one on our web site?

Hi Sarah,

Yes I did. That says the upper limit will be around 250 whp, and I don't intend to stop at that power level. Can you suggest something around the 300-350 whp mark?

Cheers

i dont know if this will help but dont a few people use the G60 one? and someone mentioned a while ago organic ones?

As said above the G60 Sachs clutch and single mass flywheel is good...

What gearbox will you be using? Going to the 02M 6 speed?

Thanks Rich, Steevie.

Steevie: No, I'm going to stick with the 5-speeder for now. I was going through your car's specs, very nice. Can you recommend a website where I could buy the G60 Sachs clutch + SMF flywheel?

I sold a Helix kit yesterday and found that they are rated to 350ish lb/ft

Would thst one be any good? hooked up to the G60 flywheel?

Sarah

spec will cost you 800+ for a stage 3+ clutch and flywheel :)

also your going to break your gearbox eventually, probably not that long.

what turbo you planning on fitting?

Sounds about right. Can you PM me a link, if you have it listed on your website?

Yeah SPEC is awfully expensive. Why do you say I'm going to break the box?

I've lined up a TD05 off an Evo III.

spec aren't expensive ,they simply cost a lot :)

and your going to break the box as everyone else running 300+ on a 5 speed has broken it, i broke mine running only 260-270 but mines a 4x4.

is it worth fitting a TD05 when your going to need a custom manifold and downpipe for it that no one makes?

Well I have the turbo so might as well do a bit of fabbing myself. Cheaper than buying a new turbo, I should think.

Do the gears themselves go, or does the diff pack up? Is there some kind of workaround to this, aside from going 6 speed?

both can go, mine shat itself through the casing too :)

HI

They are not on the web site , sorry :(

But Lummox bought one too for his MK2 IIRC

£350 ish for the clutch plate and pressure plate
