Hi. Can anyone tell me if my 58 plate Elegance cigar lighter should illuminate. It has a green plastic surround to it which I thought should light up. As a lighter/power socket it is working fine so I assume its fuse is ok. My local skoda dealer says it does not illuminate, is this correct?

dont think mine illuminates, but will if i remember check later.

Is it really that important?

Older models did illuminate, mine does, but I know from 07 onwards the green ring is gone. It's more annoying than useful at night, so I don't really think there's anything to miss.

No mine is dark as the night - don't smoke and don't care.

What I am thinking of getting is the VW cigar lighter torch - any one know if any good? eg bright!

I spotted one in a friend's Touareg, but it wasn't there anymore by the time I remembered to turn it on. I think it's useful for checking around the engine bay at night, my current flashlight is far harder to hold in my mouth while pouring the windshield wiper fluid at the side of the road, at night using both hands.

Got one of the torches (taken from my Bora) and they are pretty good for a small torch if you need one. Gives a nice white circle of light and looks better than a crappy cigarette lighter!
