hi there, ive got a problem with my traction control. it stopped working one day when i was driving along some back roads. i was accelerating past a tractor where it was a bit muddy probably about 40-45 in second gear i think when the traction control cut in. now the light on the dash stays on and the traction control doesnt work at all. the engine management light has also come on, about 2 minutes after the traction light. the abs is still working ok tho. anybody got any ideas?:confused:

You need to provide fault codes to be able to help. ABS sensor (although working ABS probably rules this out), MAF, Throttle body are just a few things that can bring on the TC light when faulty.

Get it scanned and post back.

ok will get that done as soon as.

It will probably be an engine fault.

If you get a missfire etc it cant operate TC so cuts it out.

got it sorted now. it turned out to be a faulty mass airflow sensor causing the traction control not to work. fitted a new sensor and the fault self cleared

I was just about to post that,same problem on my old 1.6

500 euro later it cost me 50 squids to fix it in a dealership, moral of the story? Don't bother with 90% of back garages without proven track record!
