Brake pads don't fit

Featured Replies

Hi,

I bought some front brake pads for my 1.9D Felicia 1997 from a guy on ebay. I checked with him, and he stated that there was only one type of brake pad for Felicia's. However, on trying to fit them, I have found that they are a different shape to my old ones and don't fit into the mounting bracket properly. Have I been mis-informed, or has he sold me completely different pads. Or of course am I doing something wrong. Below is a picture of the new pads.

The old pads, didn't have the lips at the top and were not so tall as these ones. Any help will be very appreciated.

Many thanks

Ian

they look like polo pads to me, the smaller one goes on the inner side of the caliper, any pics of the old pads for comparison?

edit: it might just be the picture at a funny angle but the one at the bottom looks bigger than the one above it

The pads are all the same size, it's just the perspective of the photo that makes them look different. The original pads look like this in appearance.

In fact these aren't felly brake pads. For the Felly they are the same like those for Ford Scorpio

Another point to add is that the e-bay pads looks like they don't have chamfered edges, which means a much higher chance of getting squeal from the pads.

Now Dougal, we've talked about this before. This one is small; that one is far away. ;)

If when you have the correct pads and they don't easily fit you may need new sliding brackets - or to file and sand the areas the pads contact the bracket and sand them down so the pads slide freely. Also check the guide pins are free to move while you're at it. Do check they're the correct pads before doing metalwork though :-)
