Gauges / Sandwich plate

Featured Replies

Right i was planning on getting some gauges for the car (mk1 vrs),boost, oil pressure, oil temp. It seams a oil filter sandwich plate might be a good idea for this.

UNIVERSAL oil filter sandwich plate twin adaptors on eBay, also Dial, Dash Switch Custom'n, Interior Styling, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 07-Mar-09 09:04:52 GMT)

does any one know what the thread? is that is required for my car for that plate and would that plate be acceptable.

to go with this gauges.

ANY 2 SMOKED GAUGE OIL TEMP / PRESSURE / WATER / VAC on eBay, also Engine Tuning Parts, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 08-Mar-09 11:17:07 GMT)

Any way if some ones know better please tell me what i'm doing is silly.

Thanks

Apparently there are already mounts next to the 1.8T oil filter mount that can be used for oil temperature and pressure senders (see link below)

what are 42draftdesigns.com like to order from? in USA so postage costs a bomb?

IME filter sandwich plates are usually used for installing oil coolers, not for gauges. Gauges are usually fitted by putting in a tee-piece on the oil pressure switch tapping.

seam would need a VW M10x1 Oil Pressure Relocation Kit, if I want pressure and temp these be source from a uk company?

seams to be quiet a bit more expensive throught drafts42 but i do prefer to OEM look..still not sure.

The link above was RobClubleys car and he's based in NZ so not sure about a UK supplier for that kit.

People generally only bother with temperature or pressure, not both, so you could use the plug marked 10 in the diagram on the link above for the oil temperature sender and fit an air/fuel ratio or voltmeter gauge in the other slot.

hmm i quiet wanted both, so in that regard that plate would be an easy option., what vacuum for does that tell you any thing worth while?

There are oil pressure transducers that will supply 2 signals; real pressure for a guage, and a binary "oil pressure over value? True/false" signal for an idiot light. I suggest you look at a site like Demon Tweeks, probably under guages.

The nearest supplier I think for 42draftdesign is Autosystems in Ireland & the price from there is 50euros not inc postage. I emailed 42Draft designs a few months ago & I do believe they said it would cost about $30 for postage to get it over here direct from the US. I've lost the email to comfirm that though.

and the pound being so weak is not a help.

Just got a email from draft42,

" Thank you for your email! Postage to London would cost: $30.91 via TNT Global Express. We use TNT as our international shipper as they handle all of their own brokerage fees"

31 dollars for shipping by TNT not that bad, plus what taxes?

but they still quite a bit more than the ebay lot £75 for gauge, £30 for plate. from ebay.

£200 from draft42 and thats before any tax's

Any one know the oil filter Thread Size, AUG 1.8T (2003)?
