Flat spot after 26E6 update

Featured Replies

Hi all, I had the above DPF software upgrade and new pressure sensor last week. Got the car back last Saturday and found that when setting off it appears to hit a flat spot at about 2000rpm. The only way I can describe it is as though you have lifted off the throttle as the car seems to stop accelerating.

Once on the move it does seem a lot smoother than before but that may be just me.

Anyone else noticed this after the update ?

I've noticed a slight reluctance from the engine after the 26E6 on our vRS TDI.

It doesn't feel like lifting off the throttle on ours, more like some muppet has lightly applied the handbrake for a second

It only happens occasionally when accelerating through the 2000-2500rpm range.

TBH we've got used to it and its a fair trade off against the prospect of clogging the DPF. Overall the engine feels smoother and more progressive than before.

If its bugging you that much you could try speaking to your dealer about it.

Thats exactly what mines like, like the hand brake has been pulled up for a second. Its not bugging me that much, will just have to adjust my driving style. Its not worth the hastle of trying to book it in to the garage so will let them have a look at its next service if its annoying me.

Sounds like the same thing ours is doing then, give it a few weeks and you'll probably get used to it

They changed the linearity of the throttle, this makes you feel as if you have a flat spot. Feed the throttle a bit more and it is gone (at least in my car).

They changed it to protect the clutch and the driveshafts.

At first it is annoying but you will get used to it.;)

Will just have to be a bit more enthusiastic with the loud pedal I think.

what is the 26E6 update

26E6 is an update for vRS TDIs to reduce the DPF problems associated with that particular engine.

It involves fitting a modified part and loading a new map onto the ECU.

Its meant to do that as it happens. You actually get more power/torque off boost and then when the turbo comes in the onboost power delivery is smoother. For my experience it makes the car easier and smoother to drive around town.
