Some piccies of my door install

Featured Replies

I didn't get around to taking many piccies while Joel was working on the ICE install due to me trying to help out, but I got a few of which here are three of them

The pile of junk removed from my car to make way for job to be done!

A nice hole left once OEM speaker was drilled out

And Joel with drill in hand working on one of the new speaker mounts (of which the 2nd spacer ring was later replaced with a narrower one)

those are big spacers, did you have any trouble getting the door card back on again.

Not with the 2nd spacer replaced with a narrower one, nope. :D :speaker: It doesn't even rest on the speaker (although it is bloody tight in there) - I forgot to get pics of the crossovers, but due to their huge size I've had to sacrifice 1/3 of the space in each of my door pockets and sat them in there!

lol! They are HUGE x-overs!

So, whats it sound like? I bet they sound sweeeet!

Even just using the HU to power them makes them sound good! I need some padding somewhere though because I can hear some vibrations when I crank it up LOUD! It goes a lot higher before I get buzzing noises than the OEM front door speakers though! The infinity tweeters produce a real crisp sound too.

cool!

I put my focals in last night, not bassy, but the doors vibrate like anything . . I think it is gonna be a real problem sorting that out. I did (kinda) dynamat the silver door skin, but that is riveted in so I don't see how to do the main door skin.

There are lots of plastic clips and wires that look like they can produce bad noises . . .

lots of isolation and dampening needed I think . . .

Ordered some sounding deadening stuff last night. Should get it tomorrow. If so it'll be a mission to get to the outer skin. Might take some pics of the process.

Joel recommended using a much cheaper but as effective stuff from marley - some sort of chunky tape - Would be cool if he could see clarify the exact stuff so I could get some to lather my door cards and stuff with! :D

The stuff I've ordered was from here

http://www.bodyshopwarehouse.co.uk/

Go to the Vehicle Preparation section and then Vehicle Preparation Misc. The stuff at the bottom.

I got a good deal on the dynamat. Still not sure the best way to apply it so take lots of piccies!!!

If anybody's scratching their heads about this, there are several solutions to the problem - I hate rattles and spent hours eradicating them from my 200, and will no doubt be doing it again.

With plastic clips and such, I find the best bet is to put a spot of silicone sealant on them, or plumbers mait (think that's how they spell it!) - plumbers mait comes in tubes like silicone, but is a bitumen-based sealant that stays soft and is excellent for soaking up vibration. It's also tar based though, so is messy as hell if you're hamfisted with it. Go carefully and you'll get good results :)
