1.9TDI... Turbo identification

Featured Replies

I suspect that the turbo on my private hire Octavia is on the way out. Excess oil leaking from the EGR valve area which I am told is getting there past worm turbo seals.

It's on 230,000 miles so it's worth an exchange unit as we all easily get well over 400,000 miles from these engines:)

Anyway, can I identify the correct part from the Skoda ID label? If I can this will save quite a bit in down time if I have the correct replacement to hand at the start of the repair.

Thanks.

Give me your engine code and model year and i will get you the correct part number. Chassis number would be perfect as there is a chassis break, so chassis number dependant.

On any diesel engine you get oil in the charge pipes, EGR leaking oil was common and on the occasion i replaced a turbo for it, warranty rejected it.

Maybe just need a new EGR.

I can give you part numbers for both

There's loads of other numbers on the label, but I don't know what they refer to.

Regarding the oil, over the last 3 months it's started to use 1.5lts per 10,000 miles, but it's not burning it, it's leaking.

I don't mind the turbo exchange as for the mileage I want from the engine, I don't know anyone that's got there without one being replaced. The possibility of engine damage due to a failure makes a pre-emptive job financially viable.

The options sticker lists the car's "as delivered" spec, and includes things like engine, gearbox and paint codes, wheel type and size, which ventilation system the car's got...
