Facelift VRS.......When?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

i have scoured and been unable to find any idea on the release date for the facelift VRS.Apologies if it is here and i have missed it.

My company car is up for changing at the back of the year but i need to get my choice in for June.

I love my Octavia L+K and would like to stay with the brand if at all possible.I just need to know if its gonna be available within my timescale so i can add or remove it from the list of possibilities.

What would also help is an idea of the emisions.....company car tax you see.

Can any one take an estimated guess based on the engine details that are currently published?

Thanks all for your time.

They're likely to use the same engine that's in the existing vRS - there's no new engines in a mid-model facelift as a general rule. DSG will be an option on both petrol and diesel, but other than that emissions are likely to be pretty much identical to current model.

SOme of the car mags have been saying "June 09" for the facelifted vRS - but how accurate that is is anybody's guess...

So whats the CR engine then if not new ?

so we wont see the new 210bhp engine from the golf gti?

Who knows,

I also believe it will be out in June 2009!

Not new to the vRS - it's available in the current Mk II. OP wanted to know about emissions figures and so on - he can judge that from the figures for the existing car because it's already available with the CR in it.

when do you reckon we'll see the CR140 in the octavia?

thanks for the replies.

My train of thought is that if its due out in June 09 then they should release pricing and details some time in April.

Thats good enough and keeps it in the running ....worst case scenario i will have to have another L+K...not a bad second choice!!

dealer near me said it was end of this year the other day but not sure where he'd heard that from

when do you reckon we'll see the CR140 in the octavia?

Well it's coming out on the Yeti as a CR140 so it must make it's way over to the Octavia soon I would imagine, along with the new CR105 1.6 unit.

I hope you're right James. Most new/imminent VW group models with the 2.0 diesel seem to be offering it as CR so I can't believe the factory is still making PDs. I guess they'll plan its withdrawal and replacement with CR to coincide with expected using up of PD engine stocks.

Just asked my local dealer about the facelift VRS and he said next year. Is there any official information on this one? Seems hard to get any definitive dates, skoda told me the yeti would be october/november. The dealer had heard june/july.

I would've though alot depends how many pre-facelift they have to shift

so we wont see the new 210bhp engine from the golf gti?

Yes, I think that is almost certain, the Seat FR is now getting relaunched with it and it would then match the TSI as opposed to the current vRS T FSI engines that are in the rest of the new Octavia range.

So, a slight performance improvemment and slightly better fuel economy. Question is, would that be worth the increased new model price when the zero vat offer ends on the exisiting model? Clearly the LE is a way of shifting remaining stock, although interestingly it has the updated dash of the revamped Octy, so for a few bhp less for the T FSI over the TSI and a couple of thousand squids saved I would say it probably isn't worth waiting for the new model...

According to this article, the facelift RS will get the new 211 BHP engine. Apparantly it is an all new engine based on the 1.8TSI and not just a reworking of the 2.0 TFSI. More photos too (although bear in mind the headlights are still disguised):

Pics give some good hints, but will wait to see better, less disguised ones...

211bhp 1.8 sounds good though :D

great translation.....my hovercraft is full of eels...etc.
