Octavia SDi Timing belt or Timing Belt Kit

Featured Replies

Hey I have a 2001 Skoda Octavia 1.9sdi. The car has 64000 miles and i want to get the timing belt changed on it. Some people have told me i do not need the whole kit, I just need to put a belt onto it. Does anyone have any advice to give me on this matter.

Get the whole kit, it doesnt cost much more and its good practice to replace the tensioners at the same time.

if its 2001 then you may fair better in the mk1 octavia forum.

I know with ford/PSA TDCi/HDi engines the tensioner tends to fail before the belt does so id say it was good practice to get them both replaced
