Problem with coolant light

Featured Replies

Ive got a fabia mk 1 1.4 8v

when i start my car from cold the coolant light flashes up, ive checked the coolant level and its full. but if i run the car for a few minutes then restart it the light doesnt come up any more, any suggestions what it could be?

It's the sensor in the bottle playing up, they are crap, they get ferred up and then the car thinks that the level is low and puts the light on.

Mine only does it in cold weather below 4 degrees otherwise it's fine.

You would have to buy a new expansion tank as the sensor is stuck inside and you can't get it out, but I think they are only £12 all in?

Hi

As the man said

Not a big job to do either ;)

I just bought a 2002 Fabia and had the temp sender to the guage pack up then the coolant light come on. The garage I bought it from replaced the sender and the expansion tank then the thermostat as it kept coming back on and it was fine for a week or so but now the light's on again.

It bothers me, I know it's minor but it still bothers me. The coolant's spot on, the temperature's normal but there is still this light.

They're going to take it back to look again to see if it's wiring but am I just wasting time?

I have this same coolant light problem, and my car is in for MOT soon, so I don't think it is a problem. Mine seems to do it especially when facing downhill - does this makes sense with the above explanation?

However, to put myself at ease, can you tell me how to check the coolant levels? I am a doofus when it comes to engines.
