Fog lamp covers?

Featured Replies

A while ago one of my fog lamps got smashed by an on coming van launching up a verge rather than slowing down and showering my car in stones.

Anyhow bought a pair on fleaBay from HK (Lupo GTI shares the same part) as a single lamp from the UK was a little pricey.

After getting some new tyres fitted yesterday I had a little time to look the car over in the daylight and noticed the other lamp is now smashed (haven't a clue how).

Can you buy covers/caps for the lamps to save this happening again? Is there a lid from a household item around the right size or a protective film that would do the job?

Any thoughts welcomed.

I think a lot of Fabia owners have had one or more fog lamps smash at one point or another.

My solution was to get some clear pvc-type film from W H Smiths, the sort that yoo cover books with. You can cut it to shape and I found the best fit was two half-circles to account for the curve of the lens.

It's not perfect but better than no protection and very inexpensive.

Both of my fog lamps were smashed in the first month of ownership due to stone chippings.

I covered them up in sellotape, looks awful but has done the job for over 4 years!
