PD150 Turbo on a VRS???

Featured Replies

One of the garages I was at getting a price for fitting my clutch mentioned to me he has a near delivery mileage PD150 Turbo off his old mk4 Golf GTTDi when he upgraded it to a Stage 2 at 2 weeks old! I could have it for £300 he's said and he'll fit it at the same time as doing my clutch.

What gain would this give me? should I upgrade anything else?

Does anyone do an upgraded intercooler that sits in the original place?

The turbo will give you very little gain on its own, it will need to be clocked but thats no biggy.

No one as far as I know bothers with an upgraded SMIC.

If you want to keep costs low, vent the SMIC (wheel arch).

What do you mean clocked?

rotating the housings about the centre so that the inlet/outlet fit existing pipe routes

If your thinking of going for a hybrid later on in life then get it and send it off to turbo dynamics to be upgraded.

Thats the route im going down when funds allow, but I have been quoted around £500 ontop of the price of the turbo...

Dam this forum

Still dont really know if that works, flowing from a low pressure area into a high pressure turbulant area wouldn't in theory help.

It should do a little, the TT has the venting there. Apparently there is a fair bit of heat coming out where it normally is blocked.

That said, it is only cheap option, and a FMIC is way better for sure :)

I know there are chunkier SMIC's availiable, they are popular in the USA with the MK4's. Never heard of one being fitted to a Fabia/Polo/Ibiza though

The turbo will fit straight on it will just need rotating slightly, in order to get more power from it you will need to get the car re-mapped again to take advantage of it, Also a FMIC will free up alot more power although isnt essential.
