Connecting 1.4 16v

Featured Replies

I own a 2000 Fabia 1.4 16v, I am looking at getting some kind of set up to connect it upto the likes of a VAGCOM/ROSSTECH.

I'm all new to this kinda thing, so downloaded VCDS 805.3

I'm after getting a set up to clear/identify faults, as cheaply as possible... I'm going to keep this car for a while so I am not looking at state of the art futureproof things.

Any advice/linkies would be appreciated on what I need.

Cheers Digger

To work with 805.3 you'll need this cable from Ross Tech:

VCDS License with KII-USB Interface: Ross-Tech Store

as this contains the dongle/license for it.

There are cheaper ways to go to work, like getting a non Ross Tech cable and using the shareware version 4.09, for which you can gain full functionality by buying a $99 license from Ross Tech. However the cheapest option is not always the best, you could encounter installation/durability problems with cheap cables, and will get no where near the level of technical support that Ross Tech provide.

Should you get a CAN based car in the future, I understand that Ross Tech have an upgrade scheme, so upgrading doesn't cost as much as buying outright another cable.
