Temp Gauge

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I woke up this morning and started mt Fabia 1 (1.4) ready for work. However, throughout the whole journey (M-Way about 25 miles), the temp gauge didnt move. I only had luke warm air coming from the heater too.

Ive been reading all the other threads on here about this problem, and from what i can make out, it could either be a thermostat or temp sensor issue.

Im quite happy to replace the temp sensor myself, but wouldnt have a clue how to replace a thermostat, with the draining and refilling of the system etc.

Could anyone perhaps confirm if it would be a new thermostat required, or whether just a temp sensor? Is it worth me replacing the temp sensor and seeing if that fixes the problem?

If a new thermostat is required, ill probably just go back to the dealer and get them to do the full works.

Cheers Guys,

J

No hot water in heater and low temp. gauge reading means yer thermostat is stuck open.

An easy test for your temp gauge if it doesn't move at all is to remove the wire connector and short it to the chassis/neg. off the battery, turn on ignition and gauge should show some sort of reading.

By what your describing it more than likely the thermostat u/s though.
