Scout front seats.

Featured Replies

I have just got my Polar Blue 07 Scout, 12500 miles 1.9tdi absolutely fab. BUT my wife and I just cannot get comfy in those damn awful front seats! They are just about the most uncomfortable slabs of (very dense) foam I have ever sat on. We have tried just about every position to no avail. I was wondering if anyone else has found these seats to be uncomfortable and what their solution was without resorting to new seats, i.e. lumbar support etc.

The problem seems to be in the join between the squab and backrest where there is very little support. The back seats have a little angular section which offers support and they are more than comfortable. Even my Renault Kangoo seats were more comfortable, and that's saying something.

Cheers,

Karlsbug

Not really. I am just touching 40k in mine (Had it 18 months) and while they are not the best seats I have had in car I find them perfectly ok for a 3-4 hour trip. I don't get out feeling bad (I had a Cavalier SRI once and that used to be a real workout) and I regularly make longer trips in the car. I do have a little cushion just under the headrest to support my head slightly but I have been using one of those for the last 4 cars.

Seats (Like a lot of other things) will be very subjective and always down to a personal taste. The solutions here will range from fitting custome seats, to a setof padded seat covers, maybe even a retrim. I think someone was talking about leather on here a few weeks ago :)

It might have been me. I meant to post a link because I was very impressed with the services they offered and the price. I think to retrim, in leather, a roomy the guy quoted £800. The company is Seat Surgeons and they are in York.

They are affliated with Briskoda and if you look around there might be bulk-buy discounts.

After a few hundred miles journey, I am beginning to warm to these seats, the initial shock of the ultra firm support has worn off! Still limited lateral support though.

I'd agree; the firmness is not an issue (I have a Recaro seat in my Octavia that is really firm but a most comfortable and supportive seat) it is lateral support that IMHO is lacking; you roll around during spirited or brisk cornering.:D

That's why we are going for the 'Sport Seats' as fitted in the Fabia and are part of the 'Pulse' interior in a Roomster (on the continent). Its a straight forward parts swop so no warranty problem and retains the OE airbag operation so no insurance issues either. Dealer has the parts on order and they'll be fitted around Easter.

Excellent, I too had some Recaro seats in MKIV Golf GTI 1.8T that I once had. They fitted me like a glove, and were exceptionally firm but I didn't really notice because the (lateral and lumbar) support was so good.

I just need to convince my wife now, she refuses to sit in the front!

Finally got our front seats converted to 'Sport' (Pulse) specification. It took a while mostly due to delay in getting a couple of the parts and then my wife and I waiting to the 'half term' week before getting the job done.

Collected our Scout during last week and the Sport seats are excellent. They look good, are not too dissimilar compared to the OEM ones (still in the rear of the car), very supporting and less firm than the OE ones.

Here are a couple of pics of the finished item (they are actually a little bit darker than they look in the pics);-

Overall, we're very pleased with the result.

Look very nice

They look nice and supportive. Glad they've worked out alright.

I don't get it... You had your seats converted or replaced?

I didn't know you can convert seats to Sport specification (better lumbal and lateral support, longer seating depth, etc.). I suppose local Skoda dealers can only replace seats?

I had the seats converted. It was easily done by my Skoda dealer, perhaps the most difficult bit

being identifying the parts required.

The metal frames of the seats are the same in the Roomster and the Fabia with the only difference for the Sport seats being in the foam padding/bolsters and the fabric covers; so all my dealer needed to do was to take the seats out of the car, take off the existing fabirc and padding and replace with new. I could have bought a pair of complete new seats but this would have been nearly three times the cost.

Full details can be found in this thread;- http://briskoda.net/fabia-ii/sport-seats/135307/

PS> If you live in Europe (not UK) the Sport seats can, I believe, be ordered as a factory option from new as the Pulse interior; but this is not available on the Scout!

That's absolutely right  Of course, I'm a bit worried about the price of new seats. Adaptation sounds better, at least in theory :) I'll have to ask around at my local Skoda dealership.
