Hello all,

I am looking to get rid of my 56 reg Fabia vRS for a Octavia Estate due to an expanding family and wanted some of you thoughts based on what i'm currently looking at.

Having scoured through the archives i can't find anything which answers my question so here i go:

- I'm looking to purchase a Octavia vRS Estate in racing Blue with 30k on the clock 56 Reg and registered in Sept 06. However, i am also having a look at a 57 Reg (24k on the clock) same model and colour of which they both have the 2.0TFSI engine in. Due to my mileage and budget the diesel does not interest me.

The fact that there is a years diffierence between the two cars are there any major addtional features i should consider? Or problems encountered or be aware of?

Thanks for any feedback in advance.

I think the options package came out between those years. The 18" alloys, jumbo box and dual zone climate.

It would be worth looking for a car with those options.

Aye - almost certainly the 56 plate will not have the extras as standard - My non-Estate vRS from December 2006 didn't.

The 18" wheels are nice (looking at trading up to them myself).

The jumbo box - really not bothered by the lack of that at all.

Dual Zone Climate - Told its more of a gimmic than anything, but it is still an upgrade.

Any idea how many racing blue vRS estates were made between those years? You miught wait forever to find one that meets your spec?

Dual Zone Climate - Told its more of a gimmic than anything, but it is still an upgrade.

Jumbo box is more use as an armrest.

Dual zone is a bit of a gimmick, it does work but if SWMBO wants the heating furnace like and you want it normal it'll give her the heat and freeze you to compensate. I think the option gave you electric rear windows as well which might be more appealing.

I'd think there would be a lot of blue VRs made, it was (is) a popular colour. I don't think the TFSI sold in the same numbers as the TDI though.

Thanks for the info. I'll keep an eye open for these when i bob down on Thursday.

Are there any possible gremlins within the engine area that have had a recall and rectified under warranty?

I must admit though the Blue estates with this sort of mileage and budget are like rocking horse **** just can't find them anywhere.

Doing a search via the Skoda UK website.

vRS Estate, Petrol, Blue

I can find only 4 listed:

Nov. 2008, 1000 Miles - £16,490

Oct. 2008, 2000 Miles - £16,995

Oct. 2007, 7827 Miles - £13,990

Sep. 2006, 23,000 Miles - £9,995

Yeah the Sep 2006 got sold last week at Chester as i enquired.

But with a budget tops of £10k i really have been struggling.

There are some common faults listed for the TFSI

My car (touch wood) has been faultless and it's a race blue TFSI 06/2007 57 (hatch).

Well i am now the proud owner of a vRS TFSI Octavia Estate in Blue and oh boy what a difference from my Fabia vRS. The engine is a corker!!

I drove it from Leciester to Bolton yesterday and averaged 34mpg hovering around the 80 mark. I've had the pleasure of having a blast in it today and it goes like stink. Much faster i feel than my standard Fabia vRS and smoother delivery and overall a more refined grown up and less bouncy feel. I'm very happy.

It also had the climate control function in, jumbo box and rear parking sensors blended into the bumper (i've seen some on the vRS that are black). Plus a bonus Bury bluetooth car kit which is superb. With 30k on the clock and part ex my Fabia i didn't have to part with too much cash either. Result!!
