Not So Superb Horn....

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Anyone ever had an hassle with the horn in their Superb?

My girlfriend had a minor front impact in my car last November which we had fixed. Shortly afterwards however, the deeper tone horn became intermittent and then stopped working altogether.

I'm missing the passenger side lower grill so I can see the horn - it's a single unit on an L bracket right behind where the grill would be. I though that there'd be a second unit but it's definitely not on the passenger side.

I was just wondering....

1/ Has anyone had any failures with their horn before?

2/ Are both horns on the same side or is there one behind each of the lower bumper grilles?

Any help appreciated!

1. Not had no problems personally.

2. There is one each side.

I would second that. The 18 or so months I had my Superb she ran more or less fault free through rain, shine, gale and snow. No issues with the horn at all.

Makes me wish I still had that horn on the Audi, the one on there sounds camper than Alan Carr singing 9-5.

Must not go off topic. Must NOT go off topic. God its tempting.........:D

and I had tried to phrase that in as innuendo free a manner as possible...

thanks for the help all!

I've had one side of the wheel stop working, dealer sorted it without replacing anything, as you have no grile to protect the hoen unit I suspect some muck has got into it or it's seizing up, again due to exposure to the elements, try using a small hammer and tap the front of it, not too hard though, this might free it back up.

Cheers everyone for the help and smut - I think it's now sorted (fingers crossed)...

Took the grille off the driver side lower bumper and gave the wires a push back into the conenctor housing (in case they'd be pulled when the bumper was damaged) and gave the part itself a little tap to free it out as advised by Supurbia. Hey presto, on the drive into work this morning, dual tones back up and running.

Just to sum up for any future searchers: hi pitched car horn on passenger side behind lower bumper grille, low pitched car horn on driver side behing lower bumper grille.

Thanks all!
