Having not used my Superb for a number of weeks and finding the battery fairly flat, I decided to give it a charge over a couple of days.

When I went to reconnect the battery the alarm on the car kept going on and off for several minutes,

This occurred without the battery being connected.

A couple of questions come to mind.

Where is the klaxon located?

The alarm obviously has a separate battery, where is this located?

After "donning" ear defenders I reconnected the main battery, started the car and the alarm now seems to behaving itself.

Any information would be appreciated.

The alarm does have its own internal battery, its there so that if anybody tampers with the electrics on the car including disconnecting the battery the alarm will sound. IIRC all modern alarms are like this as I believe its a requirement of the thatcham classification.

Yes, I think you're right - Thatcham Cat 1 alarms must have a battery backup on the siren.

The siren is located between the battery and the servo.
