Window Regulator VRS

Featured Replies

Hi All

Couple of months back went into car park wound the window down and from the window I could hear a crunching of what sounded like the gears in the motor. It got most of the way down and stoped and luckely went all the way up.

Now the window won't do anything. Is this a usual window regulator job? Are they any guides to change the regulator and how long does this sort of job take?

Not that it probably matters but this is on my 03 VRS. Other thing can you get hold of replacement child electric window switch as the switch doesn't stay down to turn rear windows off.

Thanks

Checked VAG com and getting the following error code.

FC00932 - Electric window motor drivers side V147 62-00 No or incorrect adjustment

this seems an odd code having searched through the forum. I did manage to get the window down an inch after a few presses and up again after another few presses.

Still the motor is making a ghastly noise of crunching gears.

Anybody got any ideas? Please help.

Sounds like the window regulator cables are winding themselves around the motor. Get the regulator replaced and hope that you haven't damaged the nylon gear on the motor.

It sounds as though you need another switch block. They are around £40 to £50 new, though you could match it to a used one through the part number on its' underside.

Yup sounds like the regulator, is a fairly easy DIY job with a spare pair of hands and as above, £40-£50 for the part :)

Where from Andrew? I had an estimate of more like £90 for a new regulator.

You can get regulators on ebay, although I haven't bought one there. Get a price from the dealers for the foam liner membrane behind the door card, as I butchered mine fitting a regulator, and suffered water leaking in afterwards.

I'm sure you could fashion a seal from polythene and butyl tape otherwise.

That was my solution too, but my doors seem to have been fitted with a thick sticky-backed sound deadening material as well.
