Octavia icon for Garmin Nuvi

Featured Replies

Cycling fans are probably aware Garmin sponsored a Tour de France team in 2008, and Skoda provided suitably liveried Octavia combis as team cars. Great pic @

Garmin has provided a 'Team Garmin' icon for use instead of an arrow on their Nuvi series GPS navigators. The file is @

Garmin

According to the Garmin website, they can't make icons that match specific cars because of the brand agreements needed, and as a result Team Garmin looks like b*****d child of unnatural union of a Octavia and 3-series estate, but you get the idea.

Interesting !! as we purchased a Garmin Nuvi series just before last xmas having moved to Austria's Vienna city from Croatia, for the next 3 years. Wife's on a job secondment here, and living as we are in the center we decided a Garmin was required for our 4x4 Octy . We do have a couple of small issues with it though, it takes a little too long to kick off, even after you have entered your destination. We have a underground garage, and on coming out into a busy street, we have only then to press go or start, but have to pull over at the first opportunity, within meters of the garage, and wait for the first data to come through. We are still too green about the many one way city streets to venture forward, even though Garmin will recalculate quickly. Any ideas on how to get over this slow starting, it seems to like the car to move a little further before confirming the route, but we are pulled to the side of a junction when we are waiting, and we may have to go left, right or straight across. Wife even walked around the car, even slightly up the road, its a one way street, but Garmin didn't play we have 5 story buildings all around us, so that does not help either. Mostly its a few minutes wait before we get the route, a little annoying. Good to see Garmin and Skoda together, looks the part. .
