How much does a 17" Zenith weigh?

Featured Replies

Anyone know? Apparently the tyres are 9-11 kgs depending on brand. It would be really helpful if anyone knows.

Cheers,

Les.

Don't know about a 17" Zenith, but I can tell you that;-

a 17" x 7J Pegasus and a 17" x 7.5J Audi S-Line wheel are both 11.5kg.

I would be surprised if a 17" Zenith is much different.

18"x7.5" Zeniths are 12,7kg if I remember correctly so 17" are probably quite close of those Pegasus.

Thanks very much for the info.

Any ideas whether fitting 17" Zeniths with standard Elegance suspension is likely to cause a problem. Obviously never intended by Skoda, but the weight/stiffness difference from the standard 16" Elegance alloy can't be very much.

Should be no problem at all.

From that point of view a 7J x 17" Zenith is no different to a 7J x 17" Pegasus or any other Skoda accessory wheel.

These weight as hell, given that a Rota Subzero weights only 8Kg. But I couldn't find them (nor the Volk) listed with the 5x112 pattern needed for Octy2

Do you know of other options lighter than standard?

:thumbup:That's what I wanted hear - I don't like the Elegance alloys, so I am keen to get some Zeniths.

Do remember that 18" wheels are likely to be heavier as they are bigger. I have a set of 8J x 18" B14s which are, again, 12.5 - 13kg per wheel compared to 11.5kg for 7J x 17".

If you want to get lighter wheel, say < 10Kg for 18", you need to look at Team Dynamics Pro-Race 1.2, OZ Superleggera or Ultraleggera or MAK WLR - all available in 5 x 112 PCD

I'm looking at Neuspeed wheels. Awesome-gti do them for the Octavia II.

A Neuspeed RS5 18" weighs only 17lbs ~ 8ish kg. They are not cheap but they are forged which means v strong :)

If as has been posted here, a 18" zenith is 12.7 kg thats about 27lbs. That's very heavy!

They might be good (forged) and light 8kg, but the price is eye watering - £505 inc VAT for a single wheel; ouch.

Exactly the same question I was going to ask. I have original 16" Vega alloys and they look too small in the arches to me.(especially when I was parked next to several VRS's at the WSM meet :p) Was wondering myself whether the car would sit too high if I swapped to Zenith 17s? Or would the lower profile tyres counteract that?

"... sit too high .." all a matter of opinion. Technically they will be fine as 205/55 16s are the same size (from a rolling radius perspective) as the 245/45 17s fitted to a vRS or L&K.

What you have to remember, from a visual standpoint, is that the vRS has its suspension lowered by 10mm compared to an Elegance or L & K.

You mean 225/45 17... :D also 205/50 17" is good as I have such for winter tyres...
