Changing radio or antenna

Featured Replies

Hi all

I recently got a fabia and i am thinking about getting a new head unit.

I dont think that i have the original that came with the car as new, its made by pioneer and after playing through a whole cd it gets boiling hot and starts skipping.

I am unsure as to whether i should also change the radio antenna/reciever. I couldnt find anything about it in the manual as it refered me to the pioneer manual, and that had nothing on the antenna. All it seems to be is a small black pen-lid sized plastic box that hangs down from the top of the driver door. I think it must be useless because the radio never finds a single channel on the whole of MW and LW.

I do not know anything about car radios so any help with how to replace them would be brilliant and if i need to get a new antenna.

cheers

Will

I can't think that it'll be something wrong with anything else other than the pioneer head unit. I'd change the head unit.

Whip out the head unit and see if they have fitted the Aerial amplifier adapter (from memory - autoleads pc5-90)

google it and see what it looks like and see if you have one. If not then that'll explain why you're getting no stations. Buy one and it'll sort it out!
