Cangt open drivers door

Featured Replies

I locked my car yesterday and the key would not turn back to vertical to be removed..one of my brothers friends retrieved the key so I managed to drive home but the lock is stuck in the locking postition, ie still horizontal. Hence I cant unlock the drivers door and have to get in very uncerimoniously via the passanger door! I have just found out now (from reading this forum) that I wont be able to access the fuse board to remove the central locking fuse and in my eyes then be able to open the drivers door, albeit from the inside?

if I currently try unlocking it from the inside it automatically relocks thus cant open the door!

So anyone got any ideas...its an 2000 reg Octavia 1.9 tdi

Disconnect the battery and then open the door from the inside, should enable you to get to fuse.

Once the door is open you can remove the lock barrel. I suspect that part of it has broken up, you should be able to get a repair kit for it and fix it.
