Hi all.

Well, only had the car a couple of days and already it looks as though I'm going to have to sort out a few issues. The check engine light came on so JohnRS kindly plugged is Vagcom in for me. This is the result...

Some of it is self explanatory, but obviously I'd like the experts opinions if they'd be so kind.

Thanks in advance.

Clear all the codes and see which ones return would be a start. On the face of it, it looks like no 1 probe and the air mass meter are faulty, a non original radio is installed and the CAN communications for the comfort system are using one of two wires.

Thanks matey. I've sent the results over to MB Motorsport to have a look at and I'm going to leave it with him on Thursday or Friday to look it over for me. Michael seams pretty confident that, from the results at least, it's minor glitches that can be easily sorted. Although it's puzzling how they have suddenly come on, all together, once I've got the car home.

Anyway, has anybody got more input on them? The one that particularly concerns me is..

17748 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) / Engine Speed Sensor (G28): Incor. Correlation

P1340 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

I've seen that one a couple of times. On both occasions it was shortly after a cam belt change, both times it was put on a tooth out.

Ross Tech have a fairly comprehensive list of codes here:

Cam belt was done about 30k ago though. Unless it has jumped a tooth, but if the timing was out I'd expect it to run like a bag of spanners. I'll make sure that the timing is checked while it's in though.

Just got it back from the garage. New O2 sensor and timing was a tooth out. All better now and feels even better to drive! Had it out for an hour of playing, used a silly amount of Vpower and the light has stayed off.

Touch wood, it will be the the same when I go out in the morning.

Good to hear its sorted, hope it didn't cost too much to get sorted, Michael & Kev know their stuff and are reasonably priced

More than I wanted to pay after only owning it for a few days.

Yeah, happy with Michaels work matey. Thanks for the recommendation.

Glad you've got it sorted. If you got the car from a dealer you may be able to get a contribution from them after the repair. You could have got them to fix it and pay for it from the start.

Looking at your log, the bit that says:

Component: RS-TUNING LTD G 0007

usually says:

Component: 1.8L R4/5VT 0002

Has it been remapped?

Yeh, it's Quintens old car. Hopefully that bit will be saying Jabbasport again soon.

I bought it privately matey. Just one of those things I suppose. It's had both me and MB Motorsports puzzled though as it really didn't drive as if the timing was a tooth out.

MB are Jabba agents, but only offer generic maps, you'll want a custom if you want it back to peak power i assume. It seemed to run ok didn't it. If it runs better now its a bonus!!
