Bit of Help Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Got a few questions about my Fabia VRs which im hoping you can help me with :)

I have a droaning noise between 30-50mph which peaks around 40mph coming from the rear of the car. Will this be the wheel bearings? or could it be something else.

When the car is running and the clutch is pressed in i get a rattling noise coming from the engine. When i put the car out of gear and release the clutch the noise goes. Is this a problem? or normal.

Got a performance exhaust on mine when i change gear makes quite a strange sort of whoosh noise? Normal? doesnt like power just wondered what it was and why it mkaes that noise.

Also a while back there was a thread on here about buying some electrical lubricant stuff and putting in somewhere on the engine to help it run better. Someone tell me what its called so i can search for it.

Thank you :)

could be wheel bearings but i could be dodgy tyre wear

I had a droning on my old Seat Ibiza TDi that even my VW mechanic cousin thought was wheels bearings (he even took the hubs apart to check) turned out to be strangely worn rear tyres.

Cage Mod. IIRC named after a guy called Cage on a VW forum. Maplin sells the stuff you need

To answer your other points.

The rattle with the clutch pedal depressed is normal, unless its really loud ;)

The exhaust might make the turbo noise more prominent, but I'm not really sure. I presume it allows a freer flow of gas

Had a similar "droaning" issue on my car and as mentioned before turned out to be the rear Bridgestones that even with plenty of tread left one had worn "out of round" by approx 1.5-2mm.

You could see this if you jacked the car up and put an axle stand very close to the tyre and spun the wheel - you could see the gap increasing and decreasing
