Fabia Diagnostics Connector Pinout

Featured Replies

I am trying to look at a problem on my father's car which has been happening for a while and is a little intermittent. The EPC light comes on and a previous diagnostics check showed that the car has a MAF sensor fault, but I understand that this model uses only the MAP sensor. One other question is: where is the MAP sensor or what does it look like?

Could anyone tell me whether the diagnostics connector on an 02 Fabia 1.4 8V uses CAN or ISO 9141? I have the software to read the fault codes from the car's ECUs and a serial port interface to connect to the car but the software doesn't want to connect to the car. I have been told that the connections on VAG cars is not necessarily standard.

The other possibility is that the connections I have on the interface do not match those on the car. Can anyone confirm the pinout for this model?

Thanks in advance

I'm fairly sure it is a standard layout, it may be worth having a read on the VCDS/vagcom site for a bit more info. As you dont have the licensed cable you may not be able to use their software, or only the shareware version.

Thanks for the reply.

I checked the wiring of the harness and the diagnostics connector on the car - the signal ground terminal on the connector was not connected so communications to the laptop! Moving the ground on the harness to the main battery ground sorted the problem.

I now have two fault codes that I will post in a different area for ideas about the cause.
