A real stud?

Featured Replies

Whilst on my last track day I changed my road wheels for my track slicks. Brilliant!

Except it took nearly 25 minutes and I was wrecked at the end. Single jack point for each wheel plus 20 pesky long, sticky bolts to extract - then a hit and miss job trying to fit the wheels back with no guides.

So I've done what Skoda should have done. Replaced all the bolts with studs from Grayston Engineering and nice chrome nuts to boot!

Now a wheel change will takes a few minutes - especially once I get my cordless impact wrench.

What a lazy thing aren't i?

Anyone know of a quick way to jack the car so that both front and rears are off ground at same time?

touring car pneumatic jacks....air line in the front & rear....instant lift :1: :D :1: :D

Cordless impact wrnech? I'm a cheapskate! I've got an old black and decker cordless power drill and a torque wrench. Crack the nuts with the torque wrench, power them off with the drill. Refitting is reverse of taking them off. Means I get the correct torque as well :D

pps - cheapest impact wrench - Sealey cordless 12 volt,

Chris, you'll still need a torque wrench :D

Oh and my trolley jack will lift both end simultaneously. I got a 3 tonne monster low entry one. Will lift the front nearly 3 foot off the ground. When you lift that high both ends come up even when using the correct jacking points. One word of caution on trolley jacks, you'll bend the metal work under the sill :(
