No Air From Vents - Unless Recirc Pressed?

Featured Replies

Help. I have air vent oddness today. Driving back from the shops today in the nice warm weather I wanted just normal air to come into the car. I have aircon but I did not want this on. Just a cool stream of ambient air. I have a 54 plate Elegance model so it has the Climatronic system. The only way I could get air from the centre vents was to press the Recirc button. Then air came out. If I only had the dash vent button pressed and the fan on full (as I would normally do) I could hear the fan on full but no air from anywhere - it sounded like the system was shut off and the fan was meeting resistance. When the Recirc button was pressed I could hear the flap open and air would rush out of the centre vents. Odd I think.

Any ideas please?

If you do not want to use cooling function, just turn on "Econ".

And if air stream is not strong enough, increase fan speed manually.

Also, there are separate buttons to direct main stream to windscreen, head, foots, etc.

Check that something is not blocking the area that the air is drawn in from. last week i had the reverse to your problem and it was a plastic bag that was in the footwell and had been drawn up to where the recirc motor draws air from the car. i know this is for fresh air, but it might be worth checking the car

Well in true PC stupport tech speak [have you tried turning it off and on again].....[have you tried turning it off and on again/] YES! And it all seems back to normal again? Weird, huh?

When the fault occurred I tried all possible combinations and permutations of the Climatronic controls, as well as LO and HIGH heat settings to see if cycling the heat would dislodge a sticky vent flap. Nothing but the Recirc button would allow the air through. I think the 'fuzzy logic' behind the Skoda Climatronic is perhaps a little 'too fuzzy' for my liking sometimes. I wish you could have "Auto" with a temp of 18C and manually set 3/4 FAN. When I press AUTO the fan goes to about 1/5 speed and the air comes out from elsewhere but not the face vents. Is this right?

I had exactly the same problem the other day Saurday Morning 21/11/09, my car had been stood for 2 weeks, I left the car and tried it again on Sunday Afternoon and it was perfect again and been ok ever since. I new there was something wrong the moment i saw my car as the windows were very badly condensated all the way round the vehicle i had never seen it like that before and when i went to it sunday the windows were back to normal and i never touched them Very Strange indeed. If you find out what the problem was let me know or post here and i will do likewise. Regards Craig.......

Car has done the same again for the last two days. Weird, huh? Then today it is back to normal. Yesterday the thing would not blow any air unless recirc was pressed. Even after a few trips during the day - just the same. Then this morning all ticketyboo. Most annoying these intermittent faults. Dealer says he could plug it in for fault codes but wold cost me 80 sobs :(
