Coilpack Issues

Featured Replies

I think I've got some issues with the coilpack on my MK1 VRS. The car seems be intermittently down on power and seems flat. I did a search last week and found out that cleaning the Throttle Body could help. Did that last week, but to no avail. I had the same kind of issue with my Corrado VR6.

Is there any way of checking or cleaning the connections on the Coilpack?

Forgot to mention, it's bringing up no fault codes?!?!

If you suspect the coilpacks then take the engine cover off and remove the coilpacks one by one with the engine running, the engine note should change with each one you remove. If it doesn't change when you remove one of them then that's the one that's knackered.

All sorted. It wasn't the coilpack after all. When I opened the bonnet I noticed that the hose connected to the throttle body had loosened slightly. I obviously didn't tighten the clip enough after cleaning it last week! Feel like a right idiot!

That is OK , I was just going to say , if it was coilpacks you would notice it alot!!

That would mean running on 3 cylinders , run really bad

At least this is sorted

Nice one!
