Electric window problem - drivers side

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I've a problem with the front electric window (driver's side) on my Octavia II. On Sunday, when I pressed the switch to let down the window, it went down about 2 inches & stopped. The motor stills runs but it sounds like the cable has snapped. I can hear the cable flapping about inside the door if I press the switch. Any good suggestions or guides on sorting this out. I was able to push the window up by hand & it has stayed up. Can the cable just be replaced or do I need to get the entire assembly. I have a scrap passenger door from a Golf with a working window. Is there anyway to swap over the cable?. Is it a DIY job or do I need to go to the main dealer?.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim

Anyone?

You could try taking the door card off to actually see what has let go. Could be a runner that has come loose.

Take care with it as they use a scissor mechanism to move the window and this can cause a nasty injury. Also tape the glass to the top of the door frame when stripping the door so it cant drop and smash.

IIRC you'll need to take of the door card as well as the inner skin which is riveted on......so lot of hassle just to sneak a peek.
