Seagull crap & alloy wheel clean! Pics

Featured Replies

Was NOT amused when I left work today! (ironic) Looks like a seagull or SIX had been stood on my roof for part of today and shat basically everywhere!

So, first job when I got home was to rinse it down and attack it. Thought I would stick the car on axle stands and give the front wheels a true clean as well.

Here's some pics

Crap everywhere! A fairly good rinse with a hose helped it all come off (as well as the layer of wax already on the car)

LOOK! two buckets!

After the wash, the wheels looked to be beading well anyway before I even touched them with a cloth

That one on the A pillar took a damn good blast of the hose (me pinching the end as it has no fittings on the end) to really loosen it and get rid! Knowing the tourists around my work, they probably get fed on chips and burgers... Damn tourists bloody feed them, and the seagulls know this and hang around the seafront (right where my office is basically)

That is an amazing result on the alloy. Is it quite new/been refurbed recently? My alloys are covered in stone chips (on the inside!) and stained with brake 'juice' (water + brake dust) which will not budge with ANY product. :D

They must have been using your car for target practice:D

Yes - that wheel was freshly refurbed about a month ago but I never treated it (on the inside) before fitting it and due to the brembo calipers & fat discs it's nigh on impossible to clean the inside of the rim with it on the car. Might need a posh wheel brush, but I prefer to simply remove the wheels if they need a thorough clean.

I try to remove the alloys on my car once a month - but in the 2 or 3 years of ownership before me I don't think the wheels were ever cleaned properly :(

I assume you've tried wonder wheels already on it? I have an "alloy wheel cleaner" in my kit but I refuse to use it in case it's attacks my lacquer.

I've tried a product very similar to wonder wheels but it didn't do much good. Maybe I didn't leave it on for long enough (circa 3 or 4 minutes) - but I don't really want to damage the alloy any more than it already is. :D

Or maybe its because Seagulls live near the sea.........

If they were in their natural habitat, they'd be out at sea catching fish or something. :D As it is, they just scavenge off tourists and stand on top of the shiniest cars they can find, crapping all over them. It's like nature's punishment for the effort I put into cleaning!

Top job. Perhaps a machine gun could help with those sea gulls.

The instructions on Wonder Wheels say 15-30 minutes. If the laquer is unbroken, Wonder Wheels won't damage your alloys, just don't use it all the time.

I would be careful when using Wonder Wheels guys, it's pretty harsh stuff dependant on your Alloy Wheel surface................

Jason - Your CG Jetseal 109 is arriving this morning........so you will have to get those wheels off again............

I should just ignore SWMBO's protests and bite the bullet and pay you to sort the wheels Simon :D
