os auto dip head light

Featured Replies

the os headlamp is shining but only just infront of car isnt lifting and adjusting like the nearside its worked perfect till 10 mins ago:mad:

This is probably because the optical unit has popped of its ball-ended adjuster. If you know how it's arranged, you can open the hatch for the dipped beam lamp access and pull it back on with your fingers.

These Hella lamps are rather poorly detailed in a number of respects and this is one of them. Dropping the vehicle off a transporter is often enough to dislodge these lamps. Of course, the dealers don't spot this on the PDI...

While you are correct that this fault is probably the 'horizontal adjuster' coming loose this is not a 'rather poorly detalied' lamp. I am afraid that dropping the vehicle off a transporter will not dislodge these lamps...................

There is another reason for this failure...........

Did Hella get the business for the Superb Mk II headlamps or did it go to Valeo?

Hella did not make them..........but that is not the reason why another competitor makes them...........

Owning vehicles with Hella lamps and Valeo lamps, I know which I'd rather have. The standard Mk I Superb lamps are a disgrace.

As always Roto your posts impress me...........:D

Each to their own and for the record I no longer work for Hella but I can imagine that your comparison of lamps is not 'like for like'........

based in york gonna take airbox out see if i can get in and see whats what but read a few old posts on the prob and some say it wants ressetting on vag com which i do not have

well had a look and a fiddle nothing seems loose but im no mechanic if anyone around york area knows how to fix this i have money skoda say there is no fault and has baffled them

If it's not a joint then try to disconnect and plug back in headlight plug (the electrical one) - the motor goes to an extreme position if it loses levelling signal (poor ground, etc.)

Unless you have already tried that.
