Vrs derv front tyre wear

Recommended Posts

I have a Derv VRS with Falken 452, the wear on both inside edges is quite bad. wear indicators on over 3/4 tyre look pretty equal maybe 0.5mm differnce across tread pattern. no wobble when driving and drives in straight line.

pressures are at 34, is this too much?

strange as both inside edges and both treads look pretty evenly spread its just the edge. i am worried that i might start to see cord  probably only1.5K left on tread indicators.

any help gratefully received.

otherwise its 2 new tyres i am sure i am Ok as i have over 3/4 width of the tread legal.

I went into my local Skoda dealership last week to check a tpm warning, Garage repaired tyre foc, nail found, when in I asked what the correct tyre pressure should be, 18inch wheels, 170 pdi vrs octy. Service guy said 32 all round when empty with 1 or 2 in car, 38 all round when full. Dont know if thats any help.

Dealer is wrong for tyre pressures!

The correct pressures (for all to find) are on a label on the inside of the fuel filler cap. Vrs TDI on 18s is 2.0bar front and 2.1bar rear (IIRC). Personally I run mine at 2.35bar (34psi) all round and 2.3bar in the winter.

Welsh_kai_boy - your pressures are fine; the inner edge wear I would suggest is not. Guess you need an alignment check and some new tyres later on.

Sounds like it could be the camber, not sure if tracking will fix your problem, you may need a full geo. See this thread for more info http://briskoda.net/maintenance-performance/wheel-alignment-big-con/125397/

So if it is geo (I don't mind paying for tracking) but if they say all is OK then is geo covered under warranty?
