My 3 new/first cleaning products!

Featured Replies

I hope that I made the right choices! So far I am happy with the results.

In the Halfords 3 for 2 deal I bought.

1) AG Shampoo (can't remember the full name)

2) AG Super Resin polish

3) Megs Spray Tech Wax

I intend to drop by later and grab some Autosol metal polish, but would really like a harsher polish and maybe a wet look finishing product. Any suggestions?

Why a harsher polish? AG Super resin should suffice as it is slightly abbrasive. Try Megs metal polish. Does the car need to be clayed?

The Techwax will leave a "wet-look" it's not particularly durable though.

Ahhh, this where it starts. Soon you'll have a garage full of stuff and shares in Halfrauds............................................

the car has a lot of swirls and some fairly deep scratches. the super resin seems ok but i need about 20 layers at the current rate!! i have tried t- cut on the scratches too!

i'm thinking maybe a trip to baker21 is in order!!

I thought AG Super Resin was more of a "filler" polish, than abrasive ?

OK, I have taken the plunge and bought 3 more products in the Halfords 3 for 2 sale.

I have bought.

1) Megs Smooth Surface Clay Kit (no idea how to use it yet!!! I will read the guide in a sec!!)

2) Megs Tech Wax 2.0 Kit (not sure if this is the same as the tech wax spray I bought!)

3) Megs All Metal Polish

now everyone knows what products I have, can anyone suggest a good way/order to use them in? I have some quite deep scratches and swirls on the paintwork, so I will be polishing forever I reckon.

:o

Scratches and Swirl removal is very difficult by hand so it's worth trying these things with the products you have and if your not happy with the results then you need to look at other alternatives..........

Assuming that you have washed and dryed the car you then need to clay the car to remove all containinents from the paintwork, once this is done you will more than likely make your swirls and scracthes more apparent.........

Next up you will need to use your AG Super Resin Polish all over the paintwork but this product contains fillers so will basically mask over the swirls you have but won't get rid of them, they will come back in the future..............

Then you can apply your Megs Tech Wax 2.0 and if your feeling fruity then spray some Megs Spray Tech Wax after to add a little more depth to the shine..........

What's the Metal Polish for? I assume the exhaust?

The metal parts!! :P

Thanks for the advice. I will have a go with the stuff I have and see if I am happy.

The metal polish is for the exhaust although I don't have any wire wool, so will be using whatever cloth I can find!

Thanks again

I can assure you that you would be surprised by some of the PM's that I get asking for advice on what polishes to use and where............

 I bet

Autoglym SRP is slightly abrasive. Still deemed by many as a good all rounder probably due to the fact it fills in light scratches.
