Another weekend of "fun" ensues....

Featured Replies

... having discovered our 140gb exchange store is logging ESE 467 events meaning a corrupted page. :o

whats worse is that there isnt enough space on the drive to run eseutil.. not to mention itll mean a weekend downtime for email.. why does all this happen while im on call?

You have my sympathy. I've had to do a similar thing over a weekend, the only thing that helped was that I *did* have enough space, and did it over VPN from my sofa with a beer in hand :)

Well the issue is we dont have time to do it either!. am in the office this weekend anyway on a virtualisation mission, got 4 servers to virtualise and a fileserver to rebuild too :o (and relying on netbios and dns to make it work without having to change group polices etc)

It'll work. I've done 6-7 smallish file/print server migrations recently, and if you keep the name, copy the printers with the migration tool, and copy the 'shares' section from the registry is all just works. Still no fun for a weekend.

Because you touch yourself at night.

Ahh yes, that would work, but we are moving from a windows-based machine to CIFS shares on a netapp filer, which has a completely difference fqdn.. it does offer features for netbios name emulation though so will have to wait and see. will know pretty damn quick if it doesnt work - the server im moving contains the companies homedrives and tsprofiles.
