Heavy steering

Featured Replies

My folks have just taken delivery of an 08 Skoda Superb (140 bhp TDI). It's the Laurent and Klement model and everything about it is excellent, except the steering is very heavy when the car is stationary or going slowly (less than 10 mph). Is this to be expected, a fault or is there anything that can be done to make it lighter?

Hello and welcome,

It can be slow in here, So might be better reposting in Superb forum.

As for you question, It is possible in the Fabia and Octy mkI to increase the assistance via VCDS, So if it's the same electronic assisted hydraulic system then it would also be possible. But further clarification is required

Thanks for the advice. I'll post in the Superb thread.

Some octy II's can't be adjusted and these are the newer ones, so there is a chance that it can't be adjusted if it's the same system.

If its a Superb I then the PAS is mechanical.

Furthermore, depending on what they had before, it might be that their previous car had very light steering. I know my Mum's Jazz has lighter steering than my Octy (but the Octy will leave the Jazz for dead on a twisty A road).
