Socket Stuck above spark plug in block! HELP!!!

Featured Replies

Ive been a tit!

had some spare time so thought id pop out the plugs and check them out and used (what i now know) a size to large for the plugs. but now the socket is stuck in the hole above the plug where it narrows down.

so any ideas? should i run the engine on 3 cylinders to heat up the block so it expands? i tried turning and pulling which it only seems to of slowly got harder so i now need a lot of torque to move it.

any ideas people? i really dont fancy taking the head off!!!

god why do i do there things!!!

If you post a pic of where exactly it's stuck.

Maybe you will get some useful advice

Black = block and plug

Red = Socket

Have you got or can make a narrow peg which will slide in through the hole in the socket,then hook it around an edge on the socket and pull it out. I hope you didn't hammer the socket in.

Looking at the pic will the socket not wobble from side to side with an extension on it.

sorted, lots of WD40 turning and pulling!

i think as the engine had been running the block was slowly expanding making it more difficult so leaving it an hour or so with wd40 on it to loosen it up and then pop out it came!

panic over!

I would put a smear a tiny bit of oil aroud the outside of the socket them you will need to try turning the socket with a socket wench to try to free it.It shouldn't be that tight just a little stuck.
