Radiator Fans Stay On

Featured Replies

ok i've read posts and searched on this site but nothing that resembles my problem

hi btw

i have a 2004 octavia elegance 1.9tdi

the other day when visiting i came out and the battery was flat.

when i opened teh bonnet the 2 fans were spinning with all their worth.

got a jump start and got home left it ticking over fro a while to put some energy back in the battery and all was ok..

until i turned off the engine

the fans were spinning.. ok yeah i know if the engine is warm they will spin after you have turned off the engine

so i left it 15 mins

still spinning so ahd to remove the fuse on top of the battery that is for the fans

the fans stopped and i refitted the fuse.. still stayed stooped:)

but now a few times even afetr i take the fuse out and refit they start spinning

even when the temp shows 70c and below.

anyone have any ideas?

engine runs at 90c and never over

if i do a short trip and the engine doesnt get to 90 then the fans aren't spinning when i turn off the ignition..

would i be right in assuming its the radiator fan switch something like this one?

i be going to the dealers for it and not using the link

any help would be appreciated

ok phoned a ex mechanic (fellow online gamer) who suggested the relay might be the culprit

and strangley after i said i searched the forums i did find another topic that was the same as my problem ( it was posted over 2 years ago .. thats my excuse ;P)

so ill replaec the relaya nd post an update if it worked

the relay did have 1 green connector.. im guessing water caused it
