Manifold/Exhaust Problem

Featured Replies

Hi there,

For about 2 months I have had a strange blowy rattling sort of sound coming from the front and underneath of my Octy Mk 1 VRS... :S

Maybe a blown gasket or some manifold nuts have come loose.

Usually the three turbo to manifold bolts come loose, the blowing gasses then cause a hot spot on the gasket and burn it out.

As you guys said, it was indeed the three manifold nuts that had become loose (for some unknown reason??!!) which was relatively easy for the garage to fix, no £300 manifold needed!! Thanks again for your replies.

They usually come loose due to the expansion and contraction of the manifold due to the heat.

Where exactly are these 3 turbo to manifold bolts?

I think I have similar problem as well.

Thanks,

Dan

How easy is this job to do. as i think i have the same problem :(

easier to do if you take off the metal turbo pipe that goes across the back of the engine, unless you have access to a ramp then you can get at then from underneath.

Sorry for raising an old thread! Can anyone assist with where these manifold nuts are? Thanks.
