Wouldn't Start

Featured Replies

It wouldn't start today.

It was stone cold.

I changed checked the fuel pump fuse and that was fine.

It was turning over but wouldn't fire up.

Eventually after tryin a few times I held it for 10 seconds and it started.

Anyone got any ideas?????????

Coolant temp sensor at a guess.

Really????

because it wasn't reading correctly so I changed it on Sunday to a brand new one from a skoda dealer and it has been reading perfectly since then.

If not the coolant sensor, mine wouldn't start because the fuel pump relay was on the blink.

Well when I was sat in my car I read the manual and i said check the fuel pump fuse and that was fine.

How much is a fuel pump relay and could I fit it?

Relay is about £13.

Got no idea if you could fit it as I sold the Fabia with the starting problem to another customer of my Mechanic on the understanding I'd pay for parts to fix it (almost all the expensive stuff had been ruled out).. was a little gamble though as ECU could still have been the issue, luckily it was the relay and I paid him the £13 and got a quick easy sale of a faulty car with a clear concious.

That relay was that cars last straw with me.. over the 2 years I owned it the longest it was fault free was 4 months, Right lemon of a Fabia. I got every common 1.4 16v Fault excluding the piston rings, and that was only cuz they'd just been done before i bought it! And a load of suspension + bush issues.. Sorry, rant over ;)

Still, Somehow I miss that motor! Was my first car!

OK it wouldn't start again today and hasn't started since although I was in it last night fine. The AA guy said it.s the Fuel Pump thats gone which is roughly £200.

It's at the local garage were he will look at it hopefully you are right tho!

Though it's at the garage now, if you get it back and they can't find a fault I'd be inclined to put a multimeter across the power feed to the pump when it won't start to check for current... but I'm sure the garage will do that first! :)
