More problems with my mk1 Octy 1.8T

Featured Replies

Before I start this is a long running saga! I really wish that my car would just work perfectly for once and that I could contribute more to the forum than I take out but it's not to be at the moment.

My problem previously is described in this thread:

http://briskoda.net/maintenance-performance/octavia-has-been-fixed-but-now-its-worse/139631/

I found out that when I asked my local 'VAG specialist' to fit a replacement N249 valve that I had purchased he actually removed the N75 valve and fitted the N249 in it's place which obviously didn't help!

Anyway that was remedied and it went in to Skoda and had a cambelt change and I got them to replace the MAF sensor at the same time. It has worked an absolute treat. The car feels fantastic again (not perfect though) and my liquid gauge is reading 209bhp and 233nm torque which I'm happy with.

The problem now is that while it is powerful again it runs a bit rough particularly on idle. It's now showing fault codes 17834 (Tank Vent.Valve Open) and 16395 (Camshaft Pos. Actuator Circ. Bank 2 Malfunction). I've looked on the Wiki and that suggests 17834 could be a fault with the N80 evap purge valve or the fuel pump relay and that 16395 could be the N205 Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 or again the fuel pump relay.

I'm guessing that as the fuel pump relay is the common denominator that that may be the one to replace. Has anyone had this before and how much is a fuel pump relay? Also is it possible to buy an uprated fuel pump relay and does that give any performance gains?

Many thanks again everyone.

change the 409 relay under the drivers side dash got mine off ebay for £10 easy to fit and should solve your problem

209bhp and 233nm torque which I'm happy with.

You sure that torque figure is right? Just seems a bit low seeing that the car has been remapped and standard torque should be about 235nm(173ftlb). My car has a couple of mods under the bonnet but still has a standard map on and runs 264nm(195ftlb). The reduced torque maybe a side effect of your problems but might be worth looking at.
